ADVICE OF A RABBIT

Early one morning I asked a rabbit,
“Is recycling good? Should I make it a habit?”
“Of course,” he cried, “start recycling NOW!”
“What will it do for me?” I asked, “and how?”

He said, “Reduce, reuse, recycle soon!
The trash dump’s becoming as big as the moon!
Buy good and dandy recyclable things,
No more disposable diapers and plastic rings.”

“If people recycle, they will feel glad.
The earth will be pretty and I won’t be sad.”
“I’ll recycle now,” I promised gaily.
“If it’s really that good, I’ll recycle daily!”

Jennifer Heine-Grade 4
Orange Avenue School, Cranford

A TIN-CAN MAN

A tin-can man stood on a hill,
Rusty, ragged, his name was Bill.

Bill was made of bottles and glass,
And cans that were thrown aside in the grass.

And he watched the recycling center all day in the sun,
Make new things from old ones, it looked like fun!

He wished he could be shiny and “purdy,”
Instead of ugly, useless, and dirty.

One day a boy met up with Bill,
And they ran to the center at the foot of the hill.

Bill came out all proud and new,
Loving his life as a shiny canoe!

LET’S RECYCLE

This is the way we protect the Earth each day
By recycling products in so many ways

By collecting bottles, papers, and cans
You can save the Earth and lend a helping hand

You can donate your computer, radio, or t.v.
This will cut the amount of waste that there will be

When you buy recycled products you show that you care
You conserve and save money for all to share

This is the way we do our part you see
It will keep the Earth as clean as can be

Shannon Peropat-Grade 4
St.Catharine School, Spring Lake

RECYCLING

Recycle glass, recycle cans
Don’t throw out your pots and pans
Save our planet, save our trees
Save our water, won’t you please?

When the news is read and you go to bed
Bundle and tie the paper instead
Magazines are really cool
Recycle them too, don’t be a fool

When dad changes the oil in his car
We bring it to the recycling center,
It’s not too far

One day soon we all might find
We can leave our trash behind
But till that day for what it’s worth
We can all work together and save our earth

Victoria DeLena-Grade 4
St. Peter School, Pt. Pleasant Beach

RECYCLING IS EASY

Recycling is easy, here’s what to do….

Every can, bottle, and box

Can be something new.

Your toys and clothes,

Can be very cool, to a person who has

Less than you.

It’s not hard to think of the future.

Now it’s time to be responsible, so..

Get going, ‘cause it’s up to you!

Audrey Patricola-Grade 5
St.Catherine of Bologna, Ringwood

R-E-C-Y-C-L-E

Recycle your cans, papers and glass
It’s good for the earth, the trees and the grass

Ensure you recycle, reuse and renew to
Keep our earth clean and our sky so blue

Containers can be marked and come in bright blue
To make separating recycling easier for you

You can help in so many ways, like tying up your
Newspapers and bringing them out on recycling days

Consider all the generations to come by doing all
These things and not just some

Lids can’t be reused, so throw them away,
They go with the trash on regular collection day.

Everyone who takes these small little measures will help
Protect the earth and all of God’s treasures.

Kristine Sibbio-Grade 5
St. Thomas the Apostle School, Old Bridge

RECYCLING

Recycling is the thing to do,
Recycled things can make something new.

We need to recycle our papers and cans,
When we recycle we’re saving the land.

We need to recycle everyplace,
When we don’t it is a disgrace.

We all can help at school and at home,
So let’s all recycle to keep New Jersey clean to roam.

One person’s junk is another person’s treasure,
When you go to the landfill you’ll find tons to measure.

New Jersey is home to me,
So let’s keep it clean for all to see.

Hannah Seasock-Grade 5
Holy Saviour Regional School, Westmont

RECYCLE TO SAVE THE EARTH

We must recycle to save the earth,
Do the best you can for what it’s worth.

Save your bottles and your cans,
Give Earth a helping hand.

Tie your newspapers in a pile,
You will see it on the newsstand again after awhile.

Look for the recycling symbol on each product,
And you will be using proper conduct.

When you have garbage to throw away
Put it in the right container before recycling day.

My recycling bucket is full as I speak,
The recycling truck will pick up at the end of the week.

So prepare yourself to do your best,
Save the earth for you and the rest.

Daniel Chedid-Grade 5
St. Augustine of Canterbury School, Kendall Park

RECYCLE, RECYCLE, RECYCLE

Recycle, recycle, recycle that’s what they say,
Don’t throw that cap or bottle away.

Put your items in the bin with the special sign,
Then after that they will go on a conveyor belt line.

Smashed and crushed into something new,
All because you know what to do.

Recycle, recycle, recycle that’s the way,
Why don’t you try to start today?

Kathryn Markferding-Grade 6
Holy Family School, Florham Park

I AM A PIECE OF PAPER

I am a piece of paper,

I have been processed from a tree,

I can be used again,

If you recycle me.

I can be a newspaper,

If you put me in that blue bin,

I can be a piece of cardboard,

If you put me in a bucket with bright yellow skin.

If you recycle me,

I can be changed to something new,

Instead of being dumped in the trash,

And becoming useless goo.

Everyone can make a difference,

Evan a small kid,

So please recycle me,

You’ll be happy that you did!

Nick Perkons-Grade 6
St. Augustine of Canterbury School, Kendall Park

RECYCLING IS COOL

Recycling is easy
I’ll just show you how
I doubt you’ll get queasy
Come on, let’s start now

Step 1 is to find
An empty barrel or container
It doesn’t matter what kind
Big or small, it’s a no-brainer

Step 2 gets even better
Collect all the empty bottles and cans
Soda, water, or whatever
Even if it takes a thousand hands

Step 3 is when you can finally grunt
Because you’ll soon be done
Just bring the barrel out to the front
The recycling truck comes at about one

You can recycle at home
You can recycle at school
Wherever you roam
Recycling is cool!

Stefanie Urso-Grade 6
Spring Garden School, Nutley

RECYCLING

When you recycle you save our trees,
It preserves habitats for our birds and bees.
We recycle to use things over again,
So our natural resources will never end.

When buying to protect the Earth, be sly like e fox,
Buy things bigger instead of in one small box.
Be careful before you throw electronics away,
People can reuse them almost everyday.

Please remember to recycle paper, plastic, and glass,
Because some people forget and put our environment last.
Batteries, cell phones, computers, sports stuff, and Christmas trees too,
All can be donated, reused, and recycled at a center near you.

Nicole Sandoli-Grade 6
St. Thomas the Apostle School, Old Bridge
