State Park Service's
Fall & Winter Calendar of Events Now Available
The State Park Service's Fall & Winter
Calendar of Events is now available free of charge at all
state parks, forests, recreation areas and historic sites
throughout New Jersey. The calendar offers hundreds of recreational
and cultural events and activities from October 2001 through
March 2002.
In addition to providing places to enjoy
leisure activities such as historic site tours, cross-country
skiing and hiking, the State Park Service and its dedicated
volunteers and friends groups organize special events to
help enrich a visitor's experience.
The calendar includes a wide variety of
holiday activities featuring haunted hayrides through the
forest, harvest festivals, open house galas and events especially
for children. State historic sites are hosting guided tours
and events promoting New Jersey's role in the American Revolutionary
War, including the 225th Anniversary Reenactment of the
Battle of Princeton and "A Revolutionary Time"
lecture series held at locations statewide.
"Visiting state parks and forests
can be a peaceful escape, an invigorating expedition or
a festive family outing. We're proud to offer an array of
events and activities that highlight New Jersey's diverse
ecology and history," said State Environmental Protection
Commissioner Bob Shinn.
