Speed Limits For State Roads

Route NJ 173
(a) The rate of speed designated for the certain parts of State Highway Route NJ 173 described in this subsection are hereby established and adopted as the maximum legal rate of speed:
1. In Warren County:
i. In the Township of Greenwich:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 50 MPH between the Route US 22-Route NJ 173 interchange and 800 feet east of Maple Drive (County Route 637) (approximate mileposts 0.00 to 2.42); thence
(B) Zone 2: 40 MPH between 800 feet east of Maple Drive (County Route 637) and the Greenwich Township-Bloomsbury Borough corporate line (approximate mileposts 2.42 to 3.39); thence
2. In Hunterdon County:
NOTE: State Highway Route NJ 173 is coincident with State Highway Route I-78-US 22 from approximate mileposts 11.70 to 12.81.
i. In the Borough of Bloomsbury:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 40 MPH between the Greenwich Township-Bloomsbury Borough corporate line and the Bloomsbury Borough-Bethlehem Township corporate line (approximate mileposts 3.39 to 4.05); thence
ii. In the Township of Bethlehem:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 40 MPH between the Bloomsbury Borough-Bethlehem Township corporate line and Person Road (approximate mileposts 4.05 to 4.77); thence
(B) Zone 2: 50 MPH between Person Road and the Bethlehem Township-Union Township corporate line (approximate mileposts 4.77 to 8.05); thence
iii. In the Township of Union:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 50 MPH between the Bethlehem Township-Union Township corporate line and 1,200 feet west of Charlestown Road (approximate mileposts 8.05 to 9.79); thence
(B) Zone 2: 40 MPH between 1,200 feet west of Charlestown Road and 1,260 feet east of Charlestown Road (approximate mileposts 9.79 to 10.26); thence
(C) Zone 3: 50 MPH between 1,260 feet east of Charlestown Road and 1,300 feet west of Rupells Road (approximate mileposts 10.26 to 10.88); thence
(D) Zone 4: 40 MPH between 1,300 feet west of Rupells Road and Rupells Road (approximate mileposts 10.88 to 11.13); thence
NOTE: Route NJ 173 is coincident with Route I-78-Route US 22 (approximate mileposts 15.06 to 16.05) from approximate mileposts 11.70 to 12.81.  See Route I-78 for speed limits in this section; thence
(2) For the northbound direction of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 45 MPH between Rupells Road and the eastbound entrance ramp of Route I-78-Route US 22 (approximate mileposts 11.13 to 11.70); thence
(3) For the southbound direction of traffic:
(AD) Zone 1: 40 MPH between Rupells Road and 700 feet east of Rupells Road (approximate mileposts 11.13 to 11.26); thence
(B) Zone 2: 45 MPH between 700 feet east of Rupells Road and the westbound exit ramp of Route I-78-Route US 22 (approximate mileposts 11.26 to 12.07); thence
NOTE: Route NJ 173 is coincident with Route I-78-Route US 22 (approximate mileposts 15.06 to 16.05) from approximate mileposts 12.07 to 12.81.  See Route I-78 for speed limits in this section; thence
iv. In the Township of Union:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 35 MPH between the end of the westbound ramp to Route I-78-Route US 22 and Pittstown Road (County Route 513) (approximate mileposts 12.81 and 12.98); thence
(2) For the southbound direction of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 30 MPH between Pittstown Road (County Route 513) and the Union Township-Town of Clinton corporate line (approximate mileposts 12.98 and 13.11); thence
v. In the Township of Franklin:
(1) For the northbound direction of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 30 MPH between the Union Township-Franklin Township corporate line and the Franklin Township-Town of Clinton corporate line (approximate mileposts 12.98 to 13.11); thence
vi. In the Town of Clinton:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 30 MPH between Town of Clinton-Union Township/Franklin Township corporate line and New Street (approximate mileposts 13.11 to 13.80); thence
(B) Zone 2: 35 MPH between New Street and Beaver Avenue (County Route 626) (approximate mileposts 13.80 to 14.62).
Route NJ 173 Westbound
(a) The rate of speed designated for the certain parts of State Highway Route NJ 173 Westbound described in this subsection are hereby established and adopted as the maximum legal rate of speed:
1. In Hunterdon County:
i. In the Township of Union:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 35 MPH between the intersection with Route NJ 173 and the Town of Clinton-Union Township corporate line (approximate mileposts 0.00 to 0.45); thence
(B) Zone 2: 35 MPH between the Town of Clinton-Union Township corporate line and the westbound ramp to Route I-78-Route US 22 (approximate mileposts 0.45 to 0.68); thence
NOTE: Route NJ 173 Westbound is coincident with Route I-78 (approximate mileposts 15.01 to 15.51) from approximate mileposts 0.68 to 1.12.  See Route I-78 for speed limits in this section; thence
(C) Zone 3: 40 MPH between the westbound ramp from Route I-78-Route US 22 and Rupells Road (approximate mileposts 1.12 to 1.67).
