Speed Limits For State Roads

Route NJ 181
(a) The rate of speed designated for the certain parts of State Highway Route NJ 181 described in this subsection are hereby established and adopted as the maximum legal rate of speed:
1. In Morris County:
i. In the Township of Jefferson:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 40 MPH between Espanong Road-Weldon Road and Prospect Point Road except for a 25 MPH school "speed limit" zone when children are clearly visible from the roadway during recess or while children are going to or leaving the Consolidated School during opening or closing hours (approximate mileposts 0.00 to 1.46); thence
(B) Zone 2: 45 MPH between Prospect Point Road and the Jefferson Township – Sparta Township corporate line (approximate mileposts 1.46 to 1.65); thence
2. In Sussex County:
i. In the Township of Sparta:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 45 MPH between the Jefferson Township – Sparta Township corporate line and Blue Heron Road (Ramp to Route NJ 15) (approximate mileposts 1.65 to 3.43); thence
(B) Zone 2: 40 MPH between Blue Heron Road and Pine Cone Lane (approximate mileposts 3.43 to 4.41); thence
(C) Zone 3: 30 MPH between Pine Cone Lane and Sparta Avenue (County Route 517) (approximate mileposts 4.41 to 5.82); thence
(D) Zone 4: 45 MPH between Sparta Avenue (County Route 517) and the driveway to Hilltop Country Day School (approximate mileposts 5.82 to 5.98); thence
(E) Zone 5: 50 MPH between the driveway to Hilltop Country Day School and Route NJ 15 (approximate mileposts 5.98 to 7.47).
