Speed Limits For State Roads

Route US 46
(a) The rate of speed designated for the certain parts of State Highway Route US 46 described in this subsection are hereby established and adopted as the maximum legal rate of speed:
1. In Warren County:
i. In the Township of Knowlton:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 45 MPH between Route I-80, Route US 46 and Route NJ 94 Interchange and 1,900 feet east of Walnut Road (approximate mileposts 0.0 to 1.39); thence
(B) Zone 2: 50 MPH between 1,900 feet east of Walnut Road and 800 feet west of the Erie Lackawanna Railroad overpass (approximate mileposts 1.39 to 2.40); thence
(C) Zone 3: 45 MPH between 800 feet west of the Erie Lackawanna Railroad overpass and Knowlton Road, except for a 35 MPH speed limit when passing through the Knowlton Township Elementary School zone while "35 MPH When Flashing" signs are operating during recess or while children are going to or leaving school during opening or closing hours (approximate mileposts 2.40 to 3.85); thence
(D) Zone 4: 50 MPH between Knowlton Road and the Knowlton Township-White Township corporate line (approximate mileposts 3.85 to 5.50); thence
ii. In the Township of White:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 50 MPH between the Knowlton Township-White Township corporate line and 1,900 feet west of Route NJ 31, except for a 35 MPH speed limit when passing through the White Township Elementary School zone during recess when the presence of children is clearly visible from the roadway or while children are going to or leaving school during opening or closing hours (approximate mileposts 5.50 to 9.67); thence
(B) Zone 2: 45 MPH between 1,900 feet west of Route NJ 31 and 550 feet east of Route NJ 31 (approximate mileposts 9.67 to 10.13); thence
(C) Zone 3: 50 MPH between 550 feet east of Route NJ 31 and the White Township-Liberty Township corporate line (approximate mileposts 10.13 to 12.60); thence
iii. In the Township of Liberty:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 50 MPH between the White Township-Liberty Township corporate line and the Liberty Township-Independence Township corporate line (approximate mileposts 12.60 to 15.78); thence
iv. In the Township of Independence:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 40 MPH between the Liberty Township-Independence Township corporate line and 650 feet east of Baker Mill Road, except for a 25 MPH speed limit when passing through the Central School zone while "25 MPH When Flashing" signs are operating during recess or while children are going to or leaving school during opening or closing hours (approximate mileposts 15.78 to 17.75); thence
(B) Zone 2: 45 MPH between 650 feet east of Baker Mill Road and the Independence Township-Town of Hackettstown corporate line at Canal Lane (approximate mileposts 17.75 to 20.63); thence

(A) Zone 1: 30 MPH between Town of Hackettstown-Mount Olive Township corporate line (Musconetcong River) and 180 feet west of Drakestown Road (formerly Old Mine Road) (approximate mileposts 21.83 to 21.92); thence
(B) Zone 2: 35 MPH between 180 feet west of Drakestown Road (formerly Old Mine Road) and the westernmost Mount Olive Township-Washington Township corporate line (approximate mileposts 21.92 to 22.18); thence

(B) Zone 2: 45 MPH between the Mine Brook Bridge and the easternmost Washington Township-Mount Olive Township corporate line (approximate mileposts 22.47 to 23.38); thence
iii. In the Borough of Netcong:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 45 MPH between the Mount Olive Township-Netcong Borough corporate line and 300 feet west of Flanders Road (approximate mileposts 29.40 to 29.61); thence
(B) Zone 2: 40 MPH between 300 feet west of Flanders Road and 250 feet east of Flanders Road (approximate mileposts 29.61 to 29.72); thence
