Farmers from Atlantic County Capture Top Prize

(TRENTON) – Secretary of Agriculture Douglas H. Fisher today announced the overall winners of the 2021 #JerseyFreshisCOOLER social media photo contest are Matt and Caitlyn Macrie, who are proud members of the Macrie Brothers Blueberry Farm in Hammonton, the “Blueberry Capital of the World.”

The winning photo featured a shot of nearly ripe blueberries still on the bush with the rising sun illuminating on the clouds in the background. The #JerseyFreshisCOOLER grand prize that the Macries will receive is a custom, Jersey Fresh, 75-quart YETI cooler.

The Department encouraged Jersey Fresh fans to submit photographs showing their appreciation of everything Jersey Fresh by sharing images of New Jersey farmers, farms, markets or produce with the hashtag #JerseyFreshisCOOLER. There were more than 1,000 photos submitted in this year’s contest.

“Being part of this family allows me to have a deep appreciation for what goes into making a crop come to fruition,” Matt Macrie said. “To be able to capture a moment that accentuates the pinnacle of what goes into producing our crop means so much to me. It was truly an honor to be chosen the winner of this contest out of what I am sure were many wonderful photos.”

To participate in the 2021 contest, photos with the hashtag #JerseyFreshisCOOLER were shared on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. The contest ran from early June through early September.

“We appreciate that so many people took the time to enter the #JerseyFreshisCOOLER contest to show their support of staying loyal to local and highlighting the many outstanding crops produced by our farmers,” Secretary Fisher said. “Congratulations to the Macries as well as each of our weekly winners for helping us bring more attention to the best produce anywhere.”

Weekly winners received a Jersey Fresh prize pack featuring a Jersey Fresh backpack cooler filled with Jersey Fresh goodies, including a New Jersey shaped Jersey Fresh cutting board, Jersey Fresh beach towel, Jersey Fresh car magnet, and Jersey Fresh hat. Winners were announced on the Jersey Fresh Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages each week.
