Special Hearings Unit Achieves Monumental Supreme Court Victory!

The NJ Supreme Court has significantly limited the right of the Parole Board to impose an internet ban on convicted sex offenders subject to Megan’s Law.  The Court adopted the argument of Deputy Public Defender Fletcher Duddy that imposition of such a ban is arbitrary, capricious, and unreasonable absent some connection between the underlying crime and the use of a computer.  This is truly a remarkable victory for many of our clients in an age in which internet access is so important.
