New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill, Acting Commissioner of Veterans Affairs Vincent Solomeno, and U.S. Airforce Brig. Gen. Yvonne L. Mays, The Adjutant General of New Jersey and Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Military Affairs, visited the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home at Paramus for a holiday celebration with residents Dec. 22, 2025. 

During her visit, the Governor announced Brig. Gen. Mays and Acting Commissioner Solomeno as her nominees to lead the New Jersey Department of Military Affairs and New Jersey Department of Veterans Affairs.
