Menlo Park Residents Bring the Olympic Spirit Home

Residents at the Menlo Park Memorial Veterans Home proved that the Olympic spirit lives strong, not only on the mountainsides of Italy, but right here at home in the Garden State.  During the Games, residents did more than cheer on Team USA as medals were earned; they got into the action themselves.

Recreation staff transformed the excitement of the Olympics into a series of interactive games and activities designed to get residents moving, laughing, and working together. Friendly competitions emphasized teamwork, participation, and fun, creating opportunities for residents to support one another and celebrate shared accomplishments throughout the days of events.

The homegrown Olympics brought energy and camaraderie to Menlo Park, reinforcing the importance of staying active and connected. Most importantly, it reminded everyone that the values celebrated on the world stage throughout the Olympics such as perseverance, teamwork, and pride are the same values our veterans have carried with them throughout their lives of service.

From the opening moments to the final celebrations, Menlo Park’s Olympic activities showcased that you don’t need a stadium to capture the true spirit of the Games; you just need determination, teamwork, and heart.
