• Review the LEA’s Plan for Virtual or Remote Instruction using the LEA Guidance and Checklist for Virtual or Remote Instruction Plans.
• Perform onsite evaluations of school districts every three years in accordance with the New Jersey Quality Single Accountability Continuum (NJQSAC);
• Review and approve district budgets;
• Review and approve district administrative contracts;
• Inspect school buildings to ensure Health and Safety Evaluation of School Buildings; Guidance and Instructions; Checklist; and Statement of Assurance
• Review and approve district transportation contracts;
• Issue substitute certificates;
• Conduct special education program reviews;
• Review and approve district Comprehensive Equity Plans;
• Provide guidance and resources regarding testing for lead in school drinking water;
• Maintain the annual list of religious holidays;
• Provide technical assistance to districts, and parents on a variety of topics;
• Maintain the textbook sharing application;
• Facilitate the annual review of the Uniform State Memorandum of Agreement Between Education and Law Enforcement Officials;
• Collect the annual Biannual Statement of Assurance Regarding the Use of Paraprofessional Staff; High School Voter Registration; School Safety and Security Plan and School Security Drill Statements of Assurance
• Respond to community, legislative and parental concerns; and
• Assist Department divisions in securing required data.
