New Jersey Department of Education

Office of Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action

This office is responsible for developing, directing, and coordinating the implementation of the Equal Opportunity, Affirmation Action and Title VI programs of the Department. The EEO/AA Officer consults with employees providing guidance to ensure a work environment free from all forms of discrimination and educates employees on their rights and responsibilities under State’s policy. The Office of EEO/AA & Equity Compliance evaluates, investigates and resolves complaints of discrimination.

If you believe that a Department of Education employee may have violated the State's Policy, and you are also a Department of Education employee, applicant for a position or employment opportunity with the Department of Education, or other individual doing business with the Department of Education, you may file a complaint of alleged discrimination or harassment with Michelle Whitmore by completing the Discrimination Complaint Processing Form.

In addition to filing an internal complaint, individuals have the right to file a complaint of alleged discrimination and/or harassment simultaneously with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and/or the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights (DCR).   Please be advised that both the EEOC and DCR have time limits on when complaints may be filed.
