Driver Education

Note: Requirements, passing test scores, and fees are subject to change without notice. All credits must appear on an accredited two- or four-year college or university transcript.

This endorsement authorizes the holder to teach driver education in all public schools.

This endorsement is only offered as a Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing (CEAS) or a standard certificate.

    Licensure Requirement

    Hold a New Jersey CEAS or standard certificate in health or in health and physical education.

    Hold a valid New Jersey or out-of-state driver’s license. Candidates must also submit an official driving record or abstract from the state in which they are currently licensed to demonstrate the possession of a valid driver’s license.

    Subject Matter Preparation

    Coursework Requirements

    Complete a course in driver education.

    The final determination as to which courses will be counted towards the subject matter is based on content standards found in the New Jersey Student Learning Standards.
