Swimming and Water Safety

Note: Requirements, passing test scores, and fees are subject to change without notice. All credits must appear on an accredited two- or four-year college or university transcript.

This endorsement authorizes the holder to teach swimming, diving and water safety in all public schools.

This endorsement is only offered as a standard certificate.

Requirements

  1. A standard New Jersey instructional certificate.
  2. A valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation for Professional Rescuer Certificate issued by the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association.
  3. A valid Lifeguard Certificate issued by the American Red Cross or the YMCA.
  4. A valid water safety or swim instructor certificate issued by the American Red Cross, the YMCA, or the Flotation Aided Swim Training Program (FAST Swim ProgramTM).
