Family and Consumer Sciences: Apparel, Textiles, and Interiors

This endorsement authorizes the holder to teach textiles and apparel design, construction, and merchandising, interior design; managing time and resources related to apparel construction and interior design; and exploration of careers in apparel, textiles and interior design in all public schools.

It allows the holder to teach kindergarten through grade 12, including approved career and technical education programs in grades nine through 12, in all public schools.

Subject Matter Preparation

Credit Requirements

A minimum of 30 semester-hour credits in a coherent sequence in the subject field of Family and Consumer Sciences: Apparel, Textiles and Interiors. At least 12 of the 30 semester-hour credits must be at the advanced level of study (junior, senior or graduate level).

The final determination as to which courses will be counted towards the subject matter is based on content standards found in the New Jersey Student Learning Standards.

Courses in pedagogy or education are not acceptable.
