This endorsement authorizes the holder to teach earth, environmental, and general sciences in all public schools. Earth science includes astronomy, geology, meteorology, oceanography, physical geography, and space science.

Subject Matter Preparation

Credit Requirements

A minimum of 30 semester-hour credits in a coherent sequence in the subject field of earth science. At least 12 of the 30 semester-hour credits must be at the advanced level of study (junior, senior or graduate level).

Exception

Candidates holding a Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing (CEAS) or standard certificate with a science endorsement seeking an additional CEAS or standard certificate in earth science shall complete 15 semester-hour credits in earth science and pass the state test of subject matter knowledge (GPA flexibilities shall not apply). At least six of the 15 semester-hour credits must be at the advanced level.
