Financial Oversight

While charter schools have the autonomy to manage their finances as they see fit within the parameters of state and federal law, the NJDOE holds charter schools accountable for ensuring financial stability and viability. The Financial Performance Framework is a monitoring tool that establishes clear expectations for financial health and helps the NJDOE determine the extent of fiscal analysis and oversight required for each charter school. The intent of the Financial Performance Framework is to evaluate a school's financial position rather than its spending decisions.
