One of the largest, campus-style high school districts in New Jersey, Hunterdon Central occupies a 72-acre campus and includes four general classroom buildings, a Music/Communications Building, a 2,000 seat Field house and an Instructional Media Center. The Music/Communications Building houses an FM radio station and cable television station. The school’s rigorous and comprehensive academic program supports the District mission, "Hunterdon Central is an innovative educational community dedicated to the intellectual, social, and emotional safety and growth of all students. While fostering curiosity and promoting wellness, we aspire to create powerful learning experiences,establish strong partnerships, and serve as contributing members of society." The academic program is further enhanced by a co-curricular program that includes 33interscholastic athletic teams, over 100 clubs and activities, including dramatics, student government, publications, service organizations, an award-winning marching band, and award-winning orchestral and choral programs.

Students enrolled in Hunterdon Central through the Choice program are actively and successfully engaged in these academic and extra-curricular activities. Due to the limited number of “new” seats, all eligible applicants will have an opportunity for enrollment or waitlist status. Selection will not be determined by grade level. Preference is given to students enrolled at our sending district schools through the Choice program and siblings of Choice students currently enrolled at HCRHS.

Students can be placed in ninth, tenth, eleventh, or twelfth graders. Due to a limited number of seats, students will be offered a seat according to lottery order if more students apply than there are seats available.

The purpose of the chart below is to inform parents of choice seat availability before the application deadline. After the deadline, the information will be outdated.

The Department of Education limits the number of choice seats that each district can fill. The “maximum number of new choice students that can be enrolled” tells parents how many new choice students the district can enroll in the next school year. If more than the maximum number of applications is received, a lottery will be held and a waitlist will be developed. Waitlists will be developed for all approved choice grades even if no seats are currently available. NA indicates the district is not accepting choice applications for those grades.
