Revisions to Perkins V New Jersey State Plan (Performance Targets)
Annually, the Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education (OCTAE) within the United States Department of Education (USED) requires State Educational Agencies to either (1) submit a new state plan or (2) propose targets for an additional year to continue to receive Perkins funding (section 122(a)(5) of Perkins V). The deadline to submit performance targets to USED is April 30, 2026.
Background
The Office of Career Readiness is proposing new State-Determined Performance Levels (SDPLs) for the program year (PY) 2026-2027, allowing New Jersey to continue receiving Federal Perkins funding (Option 2). This option requires engaging stakeholders and providing a 60-day public comment period for the proposed SDPLs. A written response to the public comments must be included with the SDPL submission to USED.
- Public comment: The proposed SDPLs will be open for public comment at least 60 days prior to the State Plan due date of April 30, 2026. On or before Monday, February 23, 2026, the proposed SDPLs will be available for public comment on the New Jersey Department of Education, Office of Career Readiness, Perkins V webpage. Notification of public comment will be emailed to all secondary and postsecondary Perkins grantees and other stakeholders and shared at the March CTE Advisory Committee Meeting. Public comments will be received using a dedicated email account, PerkinsV@doe.nj.gov. All comments will be logged, reviewed, addressed, and reported.
The Office of Career Readiness recommends the following State Determined Performance Levels (SDPLs) for the Program Year 2026-27:
