Trenton, NJ – Following a decisive victory, Governor-elect Mikie Sherrill got right to work for the people of New Jersey. In the days since the election, the Gov.-elect has named key hires for the transition and her administration’s leadership team, visited New Jersey communities, and engaged the people of New Jersey in the transition as she prepares to take office and hit the ground running on Day One.
Here are a few key details:
- The day after the election, Gov.-elect Sherrill opened her transition office and held a press conference where she announced Lt. Gov.-elect Dale Caldwell as Chair of the Gubernatorial Transition, and Kellie Doucette as Executive Director. Read more here.
- The transition launched a new website within 48 hours after the election to share information with the people of New Jersey, collect ideas from residents, and source talent for the new administration. The resume bank has already garnered significant interest with more than 2,000 resumes submitted that are already being reviewed. You can read more here.
- To highlight her commitment to the communities she was elected to serve, Gov.-elect Sherrill and Lt. Gov-elect Caldwell visited a food bank in Newark and spoke out against the Trump administration’s cuts to food assistance. You can read more here.
- Gov.-elect Sherrill has met to discuss key priorities with Gov. Murphy, Senate Democratic Leadership, Assembly Speaker Coughlin, Assembly Minority Leader DiMaio, and Senate Minority Leader Bucco.
- On Veterans Day, Gov.-elect Sherrill – who served nearly 10 years in the U.S. Navy – attended a ceremony in Livingston to honor those who have answered the call to serve our country. She was also briefed on the upcoming reorganization of the Department of Military and Veterans affairs.
