Platkin to Depart Role Next Month to Pursue an Opportunity in the Private Sector

TRENTON - Governor Murphy today announced that Chief Counsel Matt Platkin will depart the Murphy Administration next month to pursue an opportunity in the private sector. Platkin has served as Chief Counsel to the Governor since the beginning of the Administration in January 2018.

"For the past five years, Matt has been by my side counseling me on every single consequential decision I've made," Governor Murphy said. "From raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour to enacting the nation's strongest equal pay legislation, Matt has served our Administration with integrity, talent, and a deep sense of purpose. I look forward to continuing to rely on his counsel as he begins the next chapter of his professional life."

Platkin will leave the Governor's Office in mid-October. An announcement on his successor will be made in the coming weeks.
