State Director of NJ Working Families Sue Altman: "Matt is an excellent choice for AG!! This is wonderful news. Congrats to @mattplatkin and to the Gov for making such a stellar choice. Jersey is in good hands!!" [Tweet]

Senator Joseph Lagana: “I’m happy to see that Governor Murphy has nominated Matt Platkin to be the next Attorney General. Having had the chance to work with him while he was chief counsel, I’m confident that Mr. Platkin will serve as an exceptional Attorney General for the state of New Jersey.”

Senior Vice President of the Kaufman Zita Group Jeannine LaRue: "I am absolutely PROUD that my Pastor Charles Boyer stepped forward to praise the nomination of Matthew Platkin for Attorney General of New Jersey.  I want to first commend Acting AG Andrew Bruck in his short tenure in this position.  He has worked closely with many of us in the State addressing gun violence and other major issues that plague our urban areas on a daily basis.  I have thoroughly enjoyed the relationship many of us have forged with Acting AG Bruck, the first LGBTQ to hold that office.  I wish him nothing but great things in the future!  Wherever Andrew goes...he will continue to be a star. I've known AG nominee Matt Platkin for 6 years now and have found him to be an extremely bright, compassionate man who loves law, policy, and understands the significance of being a public servant.  Today I spoke with Matt briefly to emphasize the need for continued focus on crime in our cities across this State.  I also stressed the need for all communities to feel they have access to our State's top public safety official and that we have a voice.  Matt reiterated his remarks at today's press conference that his office 'will place great priority on protecting the civil rights of all our residents."

Former Lead Counsel, House Impeachment Inquiry, Daniel Goldman: "This is a terrific appointment by  @GovMurphy. @mattplatkin is a brilliant lawyer of the utmost integrity who will be an incredible advocate for the people of New Jersey. New Jersey got a good one!" [Tweet

League of Conservation Voters: "We are pleased that Governor Murphy has nominated Matt Platkin to serve as New Jersey Attorney General. Platkin is a proven environmental champion and, while serving as the Governor’s chief counsel, was a key ally in advancing the cause of environmental protection and clean energy. Polluters should watch out with Attorney General Platkin on the beat.We would also like to thank Acting Attorney General Andrew Bruck who has served the people of New Jersey with distinction and who made enforcement of our state’s environmental laws a priority. We call on the Senate to quickly move through the confirmation process because he would continue this administration’s track record of strong attorneys general who aggressively enforce our environmental laws."

U.S. Senator Bob Menendez: “Matt is a great young legal mind and a fierce advocate for justice,” Menendez said.  “Governor Murphy has made an excellent choice for New Jersey’s next Attorney General, and I congratulate Matt on his nomination. His time in public service and private practice has shown his commitment to advancing the most important missions in our state, such as eradicating the gun violence that is plaguing communities and strengthening the relationships between law enforcement and those they are sworn to protect.”

Congressman Bill Pascrell, Jr.: "New Jersey demands an aggressive, brilliant AG and @mattplatkin fits the bill. Matt has a razor-sharp legal mind and a dedication to justice, fairness, and public safety. Even better: Matt’s a North Jersey guy. I look forward to working with him. Good pick @GovMurphy." [Tweet]

Senator Vince Polistina: " I have heard very good things about Attorney General candidate Matt Platkin from colleagues who have worked with him and I look forward to supporting his nomination and working with him." [Tweet

Former State Director of the Communications Workers of America Hetty Rosenstein: "Matt Platkin is personally driven by his convictions and his deep belief that governments should act in service to the public good, as opposed to the well-connected. In the 40 years I have dealt with professionals in State Government, I have not met anyone more committed to equality, justice, the rule of law, and personal and professional ethics.  It's a fantastic choice."

Senate Majority Leader Teresa Ruiz: “I welcome the nomination of an Essex County resident, whose commitment to public service was first demonstrated in his capacity as Chief Counsel to the Governor. I have no doubt that his nomination will receive fair and thorough review from my colleagues on the Senate Judiciary Committee.”

Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill: "Congratulations to #NJ11 native Matt Platkin on his nomination for State Attorney General. Matt will bring significant public service and legal experience to this office." [Tweet]

As the state’s top law enforcement official, I trust in Matt’s stated commitment to public safety and equal rights for all of our residents in every community in New Jersey. I believe that he will enforce the laws fairly and will make sure that justice is delivered for everyday people. Matt will embrace his responsibilities as the ‘people’s lawyer’ at a time when it is needed.”

Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman: “I applaud the Governor’s nomination of Matt Platkin for consideration as our state’s Attorney General.  We share a passion for justice, and I look forward to Mr. Platkin continuing this pursuit. I trust in his skill and intelligence and in his capacity to lead in this important position.”

Senator Sandra B. Cunningham: “As an ardent advocate for criminal justice reform, the position of Attorney General is critically important to me for legislative public policy and the execution of the law. During the past four years, I have worked closely with the Murphy Administration to expand and strengthen the expungement process, to restore voting rights, and to improve reentry services for persons being released from state prisons and county jails. During this time, I have had the pleasure of working with Matt Platkin in his previous capacity as Governor’s Counsel. Matt has consistently been willing to listen to broker between departmental and community concerns, and to seek thoughtful alternatives to traditional criminal justice processes. Representing the 31st Legislative District, I have always sought to provide increased job training and economic opportunities for working families, ensure access to medical and behavioral health care, and for those in need of a Second Chance, provide an opportunity to realize one’s potential. Matt Platkin has assisted me in further reaching those objectives. I look forward to his confirmation in the State Senate.”

Assemblywoman Eliana Pintor Marin: "Matt Platkin is an accomplished attorney whose work on minimumm wage and gun safety have benefitted not only my constituents but the state as whole. Matt will provide strong leadership to the Office of the Attorney General and I support his nomination."

His professionalism, compassion, and respect for the rule of law makes him an excellent choice to be the top law enforcement official in the state..” [Tweet]
