Governor Murphy Ends State of Emergency in Response to I-80 Sinkhole

TRENTON – Governor Murphy today lifted the State of Emergency declared through Executive Order No. 383 on March 8, 2025 due to multiple sinkholes and voids on Interstate 80 (“I-80”) caused by the collapse of abandoned mines in and around the area of the Borough of Wharton, following the full re-opening of I-80. 

With the signing of Executive Order No. 391, the State of Emergency will be terminated in Morris County effective at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2025.
