Training & Development

  • The development of offshore wind energy in New Jersey presents significant career opportunities. The state's Wind Institute for Innovation training has supported the development of a wide range of training and certification programs in welding, industrial painting, construction management, manufacturing, and more. The state is also supporting fellowships for undergraduate and graduate students.
  • The Wind Institute Workforce Training programs partner with EEW AOS, NJEDA/Wind Institute, Gloucester County Institute of Technology (GCIT), Salem County Vocational Technical School (SCVTS), Camden County Vocational Technical Schools (CCVTS), and Camden County College (CCC)​ to provide training for submerged arc welding and marine coating.
  • Atlantic Cape Community College provides a Global Wind Organization (GWO) Basic Safety training certification, including modules on First Aid, manual handling, fire awareness and more.
  • Rowan College of South Jersey (RCSJ) provideds a 5-month, full-time, paid  wind turbine technician training program with classroom, field work and wrap around services. In addition, RCSJ has developed a 33-credit Wind Turbine Technician academic certificateion and will be launching an associate’s in applied science degree in wind power and turbine technology in Fall 2025

The Wind Institute has partnered with KidWind to develops open-source offshore wind curriculum and teacher training for interested K-12 schools. KidWind offers K-12, career and technical education materials and educator training with an advisory panel to guide activity development and outreach strategies and a cohort of NJ Offshore Wind Energy Leaders (OWELS) to pilot and provide feedback on curriculum.
