NJ residents who are behind in their water or wastewater bills can apply for financial assistance at this link: https://dcaid.dca.nj.gov/en-US/. The Low Income Household Water Asisstance Program, or LIHWAP, provides a one-time grant of up to $2,500 each for water or sewer arrearages, or up to a total of $5,000 to households meeting certain income and residency requirements. Recipients of LIHWAP grants may discuss a payment assistance plan with their water or wastewater utility.
