No. If your child attends a school that participates in the NSLP/SBP and has already been certified as eligible to receive federal free or federal reduced price school meals by your school district AND your household income is below 185% of the 2024-2025 federal poverty level, then your child is automatically eligible to receive the federal Summer EBT benefit, and no further action is required, but make sure your child’s school has your current address on file so benefits get sent to the correct address.
If your household does not participate in NJ SNAP, TANF, income-eligible Medicaid, or Foster Care, and you did not complete and return a School Meals and Summer EBT Application to your child’s school, then you are encouraged to submit a School Meals and Summer EBT Application to see if you qualify for the federal Summer EBT benefit.
