The Office of Record Access (ORA) receives all Open Public Record Act (OPRA) record requests, determines whether a request is complete, assigns requests to the appropriate NJDEP Programs, coordinates the processing of record requests, makes policy/legal determinations, notifies requesters of the outcome of requests, and makes arrangements for access to the responsive records (e.g. File Reviews, Copying, Emailing, uploading to File Sharing Transfer Sites, Faxing).

ORA also provides efficient access to the Site Remediation & Waste Management Program’s government records in response to Public, State, Federal or internal government record requests. In addition, ORA coordinates the processing of bankruptcy notices and the filing of claims.  ORA also provides training and support for the NJDEP concerning the Open Public Records Act; as well as, the retention and disposition of NJDEP records.
