Safety Programs

The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) has established a number of safety programs. Most of these programs are supported wholly or in part by Highway Safety Improvement Program funds and are data-driven programs.

Project locations that are identified for improvements within the state of New Jersey are based on high crash frequency and severity. NJDOT develops and implements countermeasures to improve the safety at these locations.
