STATE
The Merit System Board recorded the recommended changes in the State Classification Plan, copies of which are attached hereto and made a part hereof
DATE: November 21, 2000
TO: Lewis A. Scheindlin, Acting Commissioner Department of Personnel
Henry S. Maurer, Director Merit System Practices and Labor Relations
FROM: Marjorie A. Schwartz, Director Human Resources Management
SUBJECT: Change in the Classification Plan
DEPARTMENT OF LABOR
The Department of Labor is requesting a one-range salary increase for the title of Disability Insurance Supervisor.
Changes over the past several years have impacted the know-how factors of the Disability Insurance Supervisor. The Temporary Disability Insurance Service was upgraded to division status. The Division assumed a number of responsibilities previously performed by another unit, including fraud abuse, medical relations, and field investigations. Operations and staff have shifted from that which was primarily clerical to primarily professional. Legislative changes and case law precedents have increased the complexity factors affecting temporary disability insurance determinations. The Department intends to increase the amount of supervisory experience required for appointment to this title by one year.
We believe this one-range increase is warranted.
CHANGE IN SALARY RANGE
Effective: 1/29/00
