State employees in the career, senior executive, and unclassified services are now entitled to one (1) full day of Paid Bereavement Leave effective July 1, 2024, and at the beginning of each calendar year after that. Bereavement leave must be used before an employee’s sick leave. Bereavement leave does not accumulate, and unused time cannot be carried forward. Bereavement time is not paid out upon employee separation.

A new examination information alert reflecting this change will post here in late November of 2024. Appointing Authority requests to be included in this cycle are due to your customer service representatives by November 1, 2024.
