TRENTON, NJ March 16, 2011 -The appointment by Governor Chris Christie of Thomas J. Perna, Berkeley Heights, to the Civil Service Commission has been confirmed by the State Senate.

Mr. Perna is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Quadriserv Inc. a privately-held company that has created a centrally-cleared marketplace for securities-lending transactions. Prior to joining Quadriserv, he was head of the Financial Institutions Banking, Asset Servicing, and Broker Dealer Services Sectors at The Bank of New York, where he was also a member of the Executive Committee.

Mr. Perna Serves on the Boards of Directors of the Pioneer Mutual Fund Group, Broadridge Financial Solutions Inc. and Quadriserv Inc. He is a Senior Advisor to GTCR Golder Rauner LLC and the Gerson Lehrman Group. In 2003 Mr. Perna became the first recipient of Operations Management's Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of the leadership role he played in the securities industry.

Mr. Perna joins Chair CEO Robert M. Czech, Robert E. Brenner, and Richard E. Williams on the Civil Service Commission, an unbiased, independent State body that hears and rules on appeals filed by State, county and municipal civil service employees, candidates for employment, and appointing authorities. The CSC provides a forum for appeals to be heard, and fair and impartial decisions to be rendered.
