General Overview

Essex Campus is a state operated and funded 12 month community based program that provides educational services to students, ages 3 – 21. Recently we have expanded our program to include an inclusive 5 day a week full day program for typically developing preschoolers who receive services from the Department of Children and Families or other state agencies dealing with at risk children. All teachers in the preschool rooms are dually certified in early childhood education and teacher of students with disabilities. Transportation with CPR trained staff and bus drivers is included. Typically developing children who show a need for speech, occupational therapy and physical therapy may receive these services as part of our integrated therapy model. All therapists have received training in working with early intervention and preschool students.

Students who have been classified by the Child Study Teams of their local school districts as Eligible for Special Education and Related Services all have an IEP which serves as the foundation for progress reports which are generated five times per year for parents/guardians and school districts. Students participate in age appropriate statewide assessments and are continuously evaluated throughout the year to assure that their program is appropriate to their individual needs and requirements.
