The Commission successfully completed the five scheduled Master Plan public engagement sessions held in July, August, and September.  The sessions were well-attended, and the Commission appreciates the thoughtful comments it has received from members of the public who shared their ideas for the future of the Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park, the second most visited State park in New Jersey.

In addition to those who offered their perspectives in person, more than 170 people submitted comments through the Commission’s website and by using a QR code that was posted at high-visibility spots within the 70-mile linear park.  All of these comments, in addition to feedback that the Commission has received from county and municipal governments and the stakeholder community, will be collated and categorized as the work to update and revise the State Park Master Plan advances in the coming months.

As the Commission moves forward on the project, Technical Advisory Committees composed of subject-matter experts from State Government agencies and outside professionals will meet to review historical, archeological, environmental, land use, open space, recreational, water supply, and regulatory information and data, as well as the comments and suggestions submitted in the course of the public outreach process.  These committees will then start the work of devising a new and updated Master Plan for the Commission’s ultimate review and approval.
