Online Training

For your convenience, the Department offers a rich resource of web based GIS training. Online courses include an introduction to GIS topics, hands-on exercises, a test to assess newly acquired skills, and a certificate issued upon completion of the course. These classes are made available through the ESRI Virtual Campus.

The Virtual Campus offers a wealth of information on GIS technology, applications, and science. The Department purchased a subscription, so there is ready access to a variety of courses. In-depth courses such as Learning ArcGIS or Understanding Geographic Data can take 18-24 hours to complete, while smaller workshops on specific topics such as Labeling in ArcMap and Customizing ArcMap may take only 2-4 hours to complete.

If you are interested in on-line training, have your supervisor send an email or memo stating the class you are interested in and why you need the class. Send to ...
