Senator Thompson is the appointed Senate Republican member on the Amistad Commission.

Dr. Thompson has a rich and impressive history. He has a PhD in Chemistry and Mathematics and a served a stint in the military, conducted research in multinational corporations and engaged in  public service before pivoting in 1998 to serve in the New Jersey Legislature.   Samuel D. Currently as a State Senator he represents a gemischt of Central New Jersey Counties (Burlington, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean) designated as District 12, and includes Allentown, Chesterfield, Englishtown, Jackson, Manalapan, Matawan, Millstone (Monmouth), New Hanover, North Hanover, Old Bridge, Plumsted, Roosevelt, Upper Freehold,  and Wrightstown NJ Legislature (state.nj.us)
