The Fire Science #4155 endorsement entitles the holder to teach in New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE)-approved career and technical education (CTE) courses in the following programs, and programs of study under the following Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP) codes.

- Self-employment
- Military qualifications and training
- Building constructions
- Fire department organization and administration
- Fire detection and related codes
- Fire investigation and arson
- Fire officer company management
- Fire prevention and related codes
- Fire science
- Firefighting strategies
- Firefighting tactics
- Introduction to engine company operations
- Introduction to ladder company operations
- Problems in fire engineering
- Transportation and industrial fire hazards
Candidates must submit a copy of their current Instructor Level 2 and Drill Ground Instructor Certificate.
Candidates should ensure their credentials are current before applying for the New Jersey Department of Education career and technical education (CTE) teacher certification. The credentials must remain valid to maintain certification and employment.

Employment experience is only required if the candidate is obtaining certification using one of the following:
- Grade point average (GPA) exception under Option 1: Bachelor's Degree or Higher
- Option 2: Associate Degree with Employment Experience
- Option 3: Employment Experience Only
Candidates using option 1 without the GPA exception are not required to have employment experience.
