Basic Needs NJ: Resources for College Students
BasicNeeds.NJ.gov is a free online tool that helps college students explore what programs and services are available to them in New Jersey. The website provides information to help them access basic needs supports, including food, housing, parenting, transportation, physical and mental health, financial aid, legal aid, tax assistance and education-related resources.
Child Care Assistance Program
The Child Care Assistance Program can help New Jersey families who are working, in training, or going to school to pay a portion of their child care costs.
Commodity Supplemental Food Program
The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) works to improve the health of low-income senior adults at least 60 years of age by supplementing their diets with nutritious, domestically sourced and produced food, known as USDA Foods.
Food Pantries and Community Kitchens
Food pantries provide food that can be picked up by residents at the local pantry to be prepared and consumed at home. Community kitchens provide prepared meals to be eaten on site, with some adding on takeout options in the past few years.
Women Infants & Children (WIC)
WIC provides nutritious foods, nutrition and breastfeeding education, and improved access to regular health care and social services to individuals who are pregnant, recently had a child, or are nursing, as well as babies and children under five.
Office of Constituent Relations, Office of the Governor
The Office of Constituent Relations (OCR) manages constituent cases and serves as a liaison between constituents and state government offices, agencies and organizations. OCR provides an avenue for constituents to resolve concerns and have their opinions and issues heard. Our office also coordinates commendation and proclamation requests.
