Mikie Sherrill is proud to serve as New Jersey’s 57th governor. As your governor, she will be relentlessly focused on lowering costs, taking care of our kids, and delivering transparency and accountability from Trenton. This is your government, and it should work for you.
Making Energy More Affordable and Reliable
The Sherrill administration is taking bold action to make life more affordable for New Jersey families - and that starts with lowering utility costs. That’s why, on Day One, Governor Sherrill is declaring a State of Emergency on Utility Costs and freezing rate hikes.
The work doesn’t stop there. To drive down prices and strengthen reliability, Governor Sherrill will cut red tape that delays new energy projects, accelerate permitting to increase power supply, and move forward on new energy generation and battery storage projects. This administration will also demand greater transparency and accountability from utility companies and the regional grid operator, PJM, to protect ratepayers and consumers.
Getting Government to Work for New Jerseyans
Governor Sherrill will work day in and day out for New Jersey families to lower costs, create jobs, and help businesses grow. That starts in Trenton, where she will ensure the state government is transparent, accountable, and focused on delivering results for the residents of the Garden State.
Under the Sherrill administration, state agencies will have a customer service mindset, delivering faster, more convenient interactions with state government, modernizing outdated systems, and providing quicker, more predictable permitting and licensing approvals. Governor Sherrill will prioritize saving New Jerseyans time and money by making government more responsive to the people.
Protecting Kids’ Mental Health and Online Safety
As parents across New Jersey know, we are in the midst of a youth mental health crisis — and social media and Big Tech have played a significant role in worsening it. Governor Sherrill will fight to keep kids safe online and expand mental health resources to support their well-being.
Governor Sherrill will protect kids by advocating for an Age Appropriate Design Code, creating a Social Media Addiction Research Center, implementing bell-to-bell cell phone restrictions in schools, and developing curriculum focused on teaching students to use technology, social media, and AI ethically and responsibly. She will hold social media companies accountable for the harms they cause while increasing mental health supports in schools and communities across New Jersey.
Delivering a Strong Education for New Jersey Children
Governor Sherrill knows that New Jersey’s future depends on investing in our kids and their education. She is committed to fully funding public schools so every child, regardless of ZIP code, has access to a high-quality education that prepares them for success.
The Sherrill administration will focus on improving student outcomes by investing in evidence-based programming, expanding early literacy to get our kids on the right track, and strengthening mental health services in schools. She will expand job training and apprenticeship programs, improve pathways to high-skill, high-wage careers, and ensure students graduate with the skills and support they need to succeed.
Standing Up to Washington for New Jerseyans
Governor Sherrill will always put New Jersey families first and stand up to Washington when federal actions threaten our families, seniors, and communities. When Washington cuts critical funding or shifts costs onto states, she will fight back to protect New Jersey taxpayers and ensure our state gets its fair share of our federal tax dollars.
The Sherrill administration will work in close coordination with the New Jersey congressional delegation and ready state-level solutions to shield residents from harmful federal decisions, including cuts to healthcare, education, and infrastructure funding. Governor Sherrill will ensure that Washington is held accountable to the people it serves.
Lowering Housing Costs and Expanding Homeownership
New Jersey’s housing costs are squeezing families, seniors, and young people trying to get ahead. Governor Sherrill will take action to lower housing costs by cutting red tape and speeding up the construction of new homes — especially “missing middle” and workforce housing.
She will expand pathways to homeownership by strengthening down-payment assistance and first-time buyer programs, while encouraging smart development near transit and job centers. By making it easier to rent, buy, and stay in New Jersey, Governor Sherrill will help more families achieve the dream of a safe, affordable home.
