Health Care Administration Board Advises, generally, the Commissioner on issues related to health care policy and reviews and makes recommendations with respect to rules and regulations necessary to implement the Health Care Facilities Planning Act.  More Information (link to Health Care Administration Board page)
Public Health Council Ensures the reasonable protection of the health of the public-at-large; reviews and consults with the Commissioner regarding the regulations for the State Sanitary Code; reviews the administration of funds under the Public Health Priority Funding Act of 1977. State Health Planning Board Acts as an advisory panel to the Commissioner concerning recommendations on certificate of need applications to create certain new health care facilities or to expand existing services; holds public hearings in the service areas for certificate of need applications regarding transfer of ownership or closing of a health care facility. New Jersey Aphasia Study Commission Authorized to establish a mechanism to ascertain the prevalence of aphasia in New Jersey, and the unmet needs of persons with aphasia and those of their families; study model aphasia support programs, such as, the Kean University Institute for Adults Living with Communication Disabilities and the Adler Aphasia Center; and provide recommendations for additional support programs and resources to meet the unmet needs of persons with aphasia and their families.
Basic and Intermediate Life Support Services Training, State Advisory Council for Responsible for establishing guidelines and making recommendations regarding reimbursement from the fund to entities providing EMT testing and training activities.  It makes recommendations for changes in EMT testing or training activities or creates new programs to conform with federal standards or to improve the quality of EMS delivery.  It also establishes guidelines for purchasing EMS training equipment and developing recommendations for the most effective means to recruit EMS volunteers.
Breast Cancer and Breast Imaging Options Work Group

The Breast Cancer and Breast Imaging Options Work Group was established by P.L. 2013, c.196 (C.26:2-184.3)  requiring the New Jersey Department of Health (DOH), in conjunction with the Medical Society of New Jersey, to convene a work group to review and report on strategies to improve the dialogue between patients and health care professionals regarding risk factors for breast cancer and breast imaging options.  Participants in the work group represent patient advocacy groups and health care professional organizations.

Cancer Education and Early Detection (NJCEED) Statewide Coalition Provides input on Breast, Cervical, Prostate and Colorectal Cancers and provides guidance and insight to the NJCEED program
Cancer Prevention, Early Detection and Treatment in NJ, Task Force on Evaluates current trends in cancer incidence; evaluates cancer control strategies; establishes cancer reduction goals; and develops cancer control strategies to reduce cancer mortality in New Jersey
Cardiovascular Health Advisory Panel (CHAP) Assists in the development of cardiovascular health policies and advises the Commissioner
Diabetes Council Aids in the coordination of diabetes related efforts of the public health system with private health care providers and payers with all appropriate governmental, voluntary, professional and academic institutions in order to reduce the burden of diabetes in New Jersey
Disease Management Study Commission Assesses disease management programs to determine their potential to improve health care quality while reducing health care costs.  It identifies technologies it deems most effective in supporting disease management programs; identifies methods to improve public awareness; studies insurance products that are designed to promote health wellness; and studies various aspects of demand management
Domestic Companion Animal Council Consults with and advises the Commissioner regarding monitoring, studying, and reviewing the activities of the Animal Control Program, pilot clinics and other programs to control rabies, overpopulation, low cost spaying and neutering as well as other animal related issues
Emergency Medical Services for Children
Advisory Council
Advises the Office of Emergency Medical Services and the coordinator of the EMSC program on all matters concerning EMS services for children and assists in the formulation of policy and regulations to effectuate the purposes of this Act
Emergency Medical Services Council Serves as the main EMS Advisory Council to the Commissioner of Health and the Office of Emergency Medical Services.  It makes recommendations and advises on EMS in New Jersey; monitors legislative developments at all levels and in other states; and develops and supports statewide public information and education for consumers regarding EMS

Advises the Commissioner on matters pertaining to the statewide NJ EMS Helicopter Response Program
Endocrinology Task Force A voluntary group of clinical experts collaborating with the Department staff on newborn screening and testing for purposes of the early detection and treatment of endocrine and biochemical disorders
NJ Advisory Council on End-of-Life Care Conducts a thorough and comprehensive study of issues relative to the quality and cost-effectiveness of, and access to, end-of-life care services for all persons in New Jersey, and develops and presents policy recommendations for the consideration of State agencies, policymakers, health care providers, and third party payers
Epilepsy Task Force Develops recommendations to educate public and health professionals about screening, diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy and its complications; and recommendations to address psychosocial issues faced by persons with epilepsy
Governor’s Council for Medical Research and Treatment of Autism Governor’s Council for Medical Research and Treatment of Autism issues research, clinical and educational enhancement grants.  Membership is made up of representatives from academic institutions, autism and healthcare organizations, appointees of the Senate President, Assembly Speaker and Commissioner, a member from the general public, and an individual with autism or a family member with autism.
Hearing Evaluation Council (Newborn Screening) Provides ongoing advice to the NJDOH with regard to the implementation of the Act for Universal Newborn Hearing Screening in the state, including the establishment of a central registry for newborns identified as having or being at risk of developing a hearing loss
Hepatitis C Advisory Board Provides advice and recommendations to the Commissioner on the implementation and operation of the Hepatitis C Education and Prevention Program; monitors and evaluates the Program; and provides additional advice and recommendations on other matters relating to Hepatitis C
HIV/AIDS and Related Blood-Borne Pathogens, Governor's Advisory Council on Coordinates planning, policy development, resource allocation and statewide service delivery activities as they relate to HIV/AIDS and other related blood-borne pathogens. Recommends policy, legislation and other initiatives addressing the issues faced by citizens living with HIV/AIDS and other blood-borne pathogens; educates the citizens as to the prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS and other related blood-borne pathogens in an attempt to decrease transmission of these diseases
Institutional Review Board Reviews all research involving human subjects, which is conducted by NJDOH personnel or uses data maintained by NJDOH to ensure that appropriate safeguards are included in the study to protect the rights and welfare of subjects
Lyme Disease Advisory Council, Governor's Advises the Governor regarding the prevention, detection, occurrence, diagnosis, treatment and cure of Lyme Disease and establishes a mechanism through which physicians and communities can share information on the disease
Metabolic Task Force A voluntary group of clinical experts collaborating with NJDOH staff on newborn screening and testing for purposes of the early detection and treatment of metabolic and biochemical disorders
Minority and Multicultural Health Advisory Commission, New Jersey Office on Reviews and makes recommendations to the New Jersey Office on Minority and Multicultural Health on any rules, regulations and policies proposed by the office; advises on the awarding of grants and development of programs and services; and advises on the needs, priorities, programs and policies relating to the status of minority health in New Jersey
Mobile Intensive Care Advisory Council Advises NJDOH on all matters pertaining to mobile intensive care services, the NJ EMS Helicopter Response Program and emergency medical transportation
New Jersey Multiple Sclerosis Task Force Authorized to develop strategies to identify and address the unmet needs of persons with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) to enhance the quality of life of persons with MS and develop strategies to provide persons with MS greater access to various treatments and other therapeutic options that may be available
Nursing Home Administrators Licensing Board Develops and enforces standards for individuals seeking to be licensed as nursing home administrators.  Additionally, investigates and takes appropriate action with regard to any complaint filed against an administrator and continues to study the profession to develop new measures of evaluating the changing needs in nursing home administration training and develop model programs
Obesity Prevention Task Force Studies, evaluates and develops recommendations relating to specific measures to support and enhance obesity prevention with particular attention to children and adolescents.  Its recommendations will comprise the basis for a New Jersey Obesity Action Plan
Physical Fitness and Sports, New Jersey Council on Develops safe, healthful and enjoyable physical fitness and sports programs; provides instruments of motivation and education and public awareness for citizens to pursue a more healthful lifestyle
Quality Improvement Advisory Committee Advises NJDOH on the development of a uniform data reporting system to obtain reliable, standardized and comparable information on hospital service quality and patient safety from all general acute care hospitals
Right to Know Advisory Council Empowered to formulate a comprehensive program for the disclosure of information about hazardous substances in the workplace and the community.  It determines procedures whereby residents of the state may gain access to this information
Sickle Cell Hemoglobinothathy Subcommittee A voluntary group in which clinical experts collaborate with NJDOH staff on hemoglobinothathy screening and provide for testing of newborn children for the purposes of the early detection and treatment of biochemical disorders
State Interagency Coordinating Council Advises NJDOH, as the lead agency, and in conjunction with the NJ Department of Education, on matters regarding the education of handicapped infants and toddlers.  It also assists NJDOH in identifying sources of fiscal and other support for early intervention programs; promotes interagency cooperation; assigns financial responsibility to the appropriate agency; and advises and assists the NJ Department of Education regarding the transition of toddlers with disabilities to preschool services
Statewide Coordinated Statement of Need Task Force (SCSN Task Force Develops a written document delineating linkages and coordination of service provisions in New Jersey under the Ryan White Care Act’s five titles

Adolescent Pregnancy, Advisory Council on Advises the Commissioner on strategies to reduce teen pregnancy; create a coordinated and comprehensive approach to the social, economic and health problems of adolescent pregnancy and parenthood; develop programs to prevent adolescent pregnancy and improve services to at risk adolescents; and facilitates community involvement and input
Brain Injury Research,
New Jersey State Commission on
Reviews and authorizes approved research projects; apportions all available funds to qualified research institutions; encourages development of brain injury research projects; and compiles a directory of brain injury research projects in the state
Cancer Research, New Jersey Commission on Reviews and authorizes cancer research projects and apportions funds to qualified New Jersey institutions and scientists.  It is authorized to compile a directory of ongoing research projects and encourage the development of studies to identify the causes of cancer, pain management and palliative care for persons diagnosed with cancer
Health Care Facilities Financing Authority,
New Jersey
Empowered to borrow money and issue bonds; acquire, lease, dispose of real and personal property; receive and accept grants or loans for acquisition or construction of projects; and contract with participating hospitals for the construction, acquisition, rehabilitation or improvement of hospital projects
Spinal Cord Research, New Jersey Commission on Reviews and authorizes approved research projects to encourage the development within the state of spinal cord research projects; apportions available funds to approved research; compiles a directory of all spinal cord research projects being conducted in the state; and provides the Governor and Legislature with an annual report describing the status of the Commission’s activities and the results of its funded research efforts
