Health and Senior Services Commissioner Highlights Cancer Screening Program for Low-income New Jersey Residents Meet with Cancer Survivors
On Tuesday, March 20, Health and Senior Services Commissioner Mary E. O'Dowd will visit Saint Michael's Medical Center in Newark to highlight the NJ Cancer Education and Early Detection (NJCEED) Program which funds free cancer screenings for low-income residents who are uninsured or underinsured. Patients whose cancer has been diagnosed through these free screenings will speak to Commissioner O'Dowd about their experiences.
This event will begin at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael's Medical Center, 111 Central Avenue, Newark.
The NJCEED program provides cancer outreach, education, screening, tracking, and follow-up services to persons with incomes no more than 250% of the Federal Poverty Level and to persons who are uninsured and underinsured throughout the New Jersey. NJCEED provides comprehensive screening services for breast, cervical, prostate, and colorectal cancer.
