Deputy Commissioner Visits Southern Jersey Family Medical Center in Salem To Highlight Record $50 million to Health Centers in FY 2013 Budget
On Monday, Deputy Health Commissioner Dr. Arturo Brito will visit the Southern Jersey Family Medical Center - Salem (SJFMC) to highlight a record $50 million in state funding for Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) to care for uninsured and underinsured residents. Dr. Brito will also take part in a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Center's newly renovated exam rooms and dental suites.
Deputy Commissioner Brito's visit to SJFMC comes on the eve of National Health Center Week (August 5-12), which celebrates the critical role that health centers play in providing care regardless of a patient's ability to pay.
SJFMC President Linda Flake, will host the tour for Dr. Arturo Brito at 10:30 a.m. Brief remarks, a ribbon cutting and photo opportunity will take place after the tour.
"Community health centers throughout New Jersey are improving the health of New Jersey's most vulnerable residents by providing a medical home for thousands who often have limited access to care," said Dr. Brito. "Governor Christie's budget provides $50 million, a record high, to community health centers."
Last year SJFMC provided care to over 53,000 patients; 7,000 of the patients that were treated were from Salem County.
Across this state, 20 health centers with 105 satellites provided comprehensive health care services to nearly half a million people last year in more than 1.3 million patient visits.
Monday's event will take place at: Southern Jersey Family Medical Center - Salem 238 East Broadway Salem, NJ 08079
