On Thursday, June 27, Health Commissioner Mary E. O'Dowd and members of the Governor's Council for Medical Research and Treatment of Autism will announce seven grants to hospitals, universities and medical schools to fund clinical research projects.
The grants mark a new, coordinated approach to autism research in New Jersey. The New Jersey Autism Center for Excellence Coordinating Center at Montclair University is coordinating all autism research funded by the Governor's Council for Medical Research and Treatment of Autism.
These seven grants are the second set of grants awarded by this year by the Governor's Council for Medical Research and Treatment of Autism.
This event will begin at 1 pm at Montclair State University, Ben Samuels Children's Center, 80 Clove Road, Little Falls.

From the Garden State Parkway North:
Take exit 153B (left lane) to Route 3 West. Take the Valley Road,
Montclair Exit (at Rt 46 Junction) and proceed south on Valley Road for approximately 1 mile to the Normal Ave traffic light. Make a right onto Normal Ave. Proceed past the entrance to the main campus, over the railroad tracks to the intersection. Make a right turn at the light onto Upper Mountain Ave. Follow Upper Mountain Ave to the fork. Bear right at the fork onto Clove Road. You will pass an entrance to the campus and a television-broadcasting tower on your right. Go to the first traffic light and make a right. The Children's Center will be on your right. It is the one-story Spanish Style building with a bell tower.
