Media Advisory - NJ Department of Health and Rutgers University Host Community Event Focusing on Childhood Obesity
The New Jersey Department of Health and Rutgers University are co-hosting a community event entitled "Food and the Human Experience" on April 29, at 6 pm. in the War Memorial in Trenton.
The event will feature a screening of a new documentary, Generation at Risk: Joining Forces to Fight Childhood Obesity," that was produced by Dena Seidel, director of the Rutgers Center for Digital Filmmaking and the Rutgers Film Bureau. The documentary was produced in partnership with the New Jersey Institute for Food, Nutrition and Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
Following the screening, Dr. Arturo Brito, Deputy Commissioner, New Jersey Department of Health, will lead a panel discussion of New Jersey's efforts to make New Jersey a healthier state.
The documentary features interviews with New Jersey Health Commissioner Mary E. O'Dowd, former New York City Health Commissioner Tom Farley, health writer Michael Moss and Dr. Dwayne Proctor, team director for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's Childhood Obesity team.
The event is funded by a grant from the NJ Council for the Humanities. This is the third in a series of community forums throughout the state.
