Murphy Administration Recognizes Dedication of New Jersey’s Emergency Medical Services Professionals

2018 EMS Week Theme: EMS Strong: Stronger Together

Marking National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week (May 20-26), New Jersey Health Commissioner Dr. Shereef Elnahal recognized the more than 31,000 EMS professionals throughout New Jersey for their commitment and dedication to service.

“Every day New Jersey’s EMS professionals put their lives on the line to respond to more than one million calls and are available 24 hours a day,” Commissioner Elnahal said. “It is important that we recognize the critical work of all parts of the EMS system, whose collective efforts provide care ranging from comfort care to intensive care, coupled with transportation to, in-between, or home from hospitals and other healthcare facilities.’’

Governor Phil Murphy issued a proclamation expressing his appreciation to New Jersey's Mobile Healthcare clinicians, administrators, and educators for the services they provide to protect the health and save the lives of state residents. The proclamation notes that “New Jersey is a leader in the types and quality of emergency medical care available to patients” and the Department will to continue to improve its EMS system in order to assure all residents the highest standards of emergency medical care. This year marks the 44th year that the American College of Emergency Physicians, in partnership with the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians, is sponsoring National EMS Week to raise public awareness of the critical role mobile healthcare clinicians play around the country.

The nationwide theme of the week is "EMS Strong: Stronger Together,” and topics include clinical education, safety, care for children, public first aid training, and recognition of clinicians and their work.
