TRENTON - The New Jersey Department of Health, with the approval of the Health Care Administration Board, today issued a notice of proposal to amend existing N.J.A.C. 8:39-43.10 Approval of a nurse aide in long-term care facilities training program – nurse aide training program instructor/evaluator.
Existing N.J.A.C. 8:39-43.10 establishes minimum qualifications for registered nurses to provide Department-approved training to candidates for certification as nurse aides. The notice of proposed amendment issued today would revise the existing rule to track closely the comparable Federal regulation issued by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services of the United States Department of Health and Human Services. The proposed amendment would implement the Department’s determination, announced in February, 2022, to grant a petition for rulemaking requesting this change. See 54 N.J.R. 284(a) (February 7, 2022).
The notice of proposal appears in the December 5, 2022, issue of the New Jersey Register. Persons wishing to comment thereon must submit written comments either (1) electronically by February 3, 2023, to nj.gov/health/legal/ecomments.shtml; or (2) by regular mail postmarked on or before February 3, 2023, to Joy L.
