New Jersey Department of Health Proposes Amendments and New Rules at N.J.A.C. 8:31B-3.66 Governing the Hospital Adjusted Admission Assessment
TRENTON – The New Jersey Department of Health (Department), with the approval of the Health Care Administration Board, has issued a notice of proposal to amend N.J.A.C. 8:31B-3.66, which governs the adjusted admission assessment that applies to hospitals.
N.J.S.A. 26:2H-18.57 obliges the Department to assess each hospital a charge per adjusted admission, and to establish an annual payment schedule and reporting requirements. Existing N.J.A.C. 8:31B-3.66, Adjusted admission assessment, implements these requirements as applicable to general acute care and specialty heart hospitals. A 2018 amendment to N.J.S.A. 26:2H-18.57 made these requirements applicable to rehabilitation and long-term acute care hospitals and directed the Department to promulgate rulemaking to implement this amendment. The proposed amendment to N.J.A.C. 8:31B-3.66 accordingly would make the assessment and reporting obligations applicable to rehabilitation and long-term acute care hospitals, in parity with general acute care and specialty heart hospitals.
The notice of proposal appears in the June 5, 2023, issue of the New Jersey Register. Persons wishing to comment thereon must submit written comments either (1) electronically by August 4, 2023, to nj.gov/health/legal/ecomments.shtml; or (2) by regular mail postmarked on or before August 4, 2023, to Joy L.
