New Jersey Department of Health Proposes to Readopt the Higher Education Student Health Insurance Coverage Rules at N.J.A.C. 8:57-7.1 and 7.4, with Amendments and Recodification as New 8:92-1.1 and 1.3, and Proposes a New Rule at N.J.A.C. 8:92-1.3
The New Jersey Department of Health (Department), in consultation with the Public Health Council, proposes to readopt the Higher Education Student Health Insurance Coverage rules at N.J.A.C. 8:57-7.1 and 7.4 with amendments and recodification as new N.J.A.C. 8:92-1.1 and 1.3. The Department is not proposing to readopt existing N.J.A.C. 8:57-7.2 and 7.3. The Department is also proposing a new rule at N.J.A.C. 8:92-1.2.
The rules proposed for readoption with amendments and recodification as N.J.A.C. 8:92-1.1 and 1.3, and the proposed new rule at N.J.A.C. 8:92-1.2, implement the Department’s rulemaking obligation pursuant to N.J.S.A. 18A:62-15, which requires each institution of higher education in the State to offer health insurance coverage on a group or individual basis for purchase by students who are enrolled full-time at an institution, and which requires the Department to promulgate rules implementing this mandate.
The Notice of Proposal appears in the February 5, 2024, issue of the New Jersey Register. Persons wishing to comment on the proposal must submit written comments either (1) electronically by April 5, 2024, to www.nj.gov/health/legal/ecomments.shtml; or (2) by regular mail postmarked by April 5, 2024, to Kimberly E.
