New Jersey Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Commission

MLK Ribbon Cutting Ceremony - Paterson, NJ

The NJ Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Commission was invited to join the City of Paterson at a ribbon-cutting for the new Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park. Commissioners Theodora Lacey and Jamie Bland represented the Commission. There are photos of them in front of the statue of Dr. King, created by Stan Watts, along with Paterson Mayor Andre Sayegh and Rev. Fredrick LaGarde III, whose father pastored the nearby First Bethel AME Church where Dr. King gave one of his last speeches. The Park also features “A Wall that Brings People Together,” and paving stones with quotes from Dr. King. Thank you, Commissioners Lacey and Bland for your gracious representation of the Commission.
