New Jersey’s Volunteer Numbers Are On The Rise! From 1.4 million to 1.9 million volunteers, NJ’s Volunteers are making a difference in your community!

Every two years, AmeriCorps partners with the U.S. Census Bureau to take the pulse of our nation’s civic health. The 2023 survey looks at many forms of civic engagement between September 2022 and 2023.
In New Jersey:

  • 1,910,895 formal volunteers contributed 104,768,245 hours of service through organizations worth an estimated $3.7 billion.
  • 25.7 percent of residents formally volunteered through organizations.
  • 22.8 percent of residents belonged to an organization.
  • 57.1 percent of residents donated $25 or more to charity.
