NJDOT announces bridge deck replacement at
Gordon’s Corner Road/Tennent Road in Manalapan

(Trenton) - The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) today announced the start of a bridge deck replacement project on Gordon’s Corner Road/Tennent Road over Route 9 in Manalapan Township, Monmouth County.

“We will be installing a new precast structure that will accelerate the construction timeframe,” said NJDOT Commissioner Jim Simpson. “We are committed to replacing the structure with as little disruption as possible for the residents of Manalapan.”

Starting Monday April 12, NJDOT will conduct temporary nightly lane closures on Gordon’s Corner Road to replace the approaches to the bridge deck. Temporary lane closures on Route 9 may also be needed. Lane closure hours are Mondays through Thursdays from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the next day, from 9 p.m. on Fridays to 8 a.m. on Saturdays, from 10 p.m. on Saturdays to 9 a.m. on Sundays and from 10 p.m. on Sundays to 6 a.m. on Mondays. Gordon’s Corner Road over Route 9 will also be closed to all pedestrian traffic.

On Friday, April 23, NJDOT will shift the westbound lanes onto the eastbound side of the bridge with one lane open in each direction. Work will then begin on the westbound side of the bridge and the approach from Morganville Road.

The $6.3 million project is expected to be completed by late summer 2010.
