New Jersey Sire Stakes Announces Enhanced Silver Series Purses for 2027

(TRENTON) – The New Jersey Sire Stakes Board today announced program enhancements for 2027 that will increase Silver Series purses while keeping entry and nomination fees unchanged from 2026. The updates also preserve Platinum Series purse levels and provide an additional incentive for eligible New Jersey-sired horses.
The changes are designed to deliver greater value to owners, trainers and breeders and to support continued growth across New Jersey’s horse-racing industry.
2027 NJSS Program Highlights:
· Silver Series legs: Increase 50%, from $10,000 to $15,000 per elimination.
· Silver Series eliminations: Remain at three for 2-year-olds and two for 3-year-olds.
· Silver Series finals: Increase from $40,000 to $50,000 for fields of 8 or more.
· Platinum Series: No change - $25,000 eliminations and $225,000 finals for fields of 8 or more.
· Entry and nomination fees: Unchanged from 2026, increasing purse values without higher fees.
· Additional incentive: New Jersey-sired horses can receive a 20% bonus for winning certain stakes races at the Meadowlands thanks to SBOANJ and the Meadowlands.
The NJ Sire Stakes Board says the changes are intended to strengthen and grow New Jersey's horse-racing industry.
“These enhancements reflect our commitment to strengthening New Jersey’s breeding and racing programs while creating meaningful opportunities for participants,” said Nancy Grbelja, New Jersey Sire Stakes Chairwoman. “By increasing Silver Series purses without raising fees, we are delivering more value and supporting the long-term vitality of the industry.”
